Denis Horvat is a Copenhagen-based DJ and producer whose distinctive, melodic sound has earned him a lasting place in the underground electronic music landscape. A self-taught artist with roots as a drummer, Horvat has steadily built an impressive career, marked by releases on some of the scene’s most respected labels, including Innervisions, Afterlife, and Diynamic.

Born to Croatian parents in Frederiksvaerk, a small town northwest of Copenhagen, Horvat was immersed in music from an early age. Influenced by his father’s 1980s record collection— featuring Depeche Mode, Billy Idol, Blondie, and Kiss—his passion deepened when he discovered The Prodigy at the age of 10. That moment sparked a lifelong connection to electronic music that continues to shape his artistic path.

Horvat’s studio is centered around analog gear, which defines the textured, immersive quality of his self-described “synthesizer techno.” His productions are rich in detail and emotion, complemented by acclaimed remixes such as his standout rework of WhoMadeWho’s “Dynasty,” a track that became a staple on global dancefloors.

Beyond his solo work, Horvat launched a side project under the alias Tlak, allowing him to explore different sonic territories. This project led to releases on labels such as Sum Over Histories and Objektivity.

As a DJ, Horvat is known for his meticulously crafted sets that blend deep house, techno, and melodic elements. He has performed at prominent venues and festivals, sharing stages with artists like Âme, Dixon, and Maceo Plex.

In addition to his performances and productions, Horvat founded his own label, Vokabularium, further contributing to the electronic music landscape.
